How We Picked the Best Burgers in Perth

Menu

You may be coming in for a burger, but it’s still good to have a variety of high-quality food and drinks.

Ambience

This is based on the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, which includes the design, comfort, and feel of the place.

Service

The friendliness of the servers and the restaurant staff can enhance your dinner experience, which is why we’ve added this as a criterion.

Cost

Everyone has a different idea of what’s affordable, but this is based on the value for money they provide through their menu items.

Pros

  • Has vegetarian options
  • Good variety in menu
  • Affordable prices
  • Big servings
  • Fast service

Cons

  • Closed for dinner
  • Drinks not as good

From its name alone, Compton Burgers is obviously inspired by 90s hip-hop. In fact, they were even endorsed by the late Coolio himself!

They’re a good pick if you’re looking for American-style burgers and fries—not chips! If you’d like to try something else other than their burgers, they also have a good selection of sandwiches to choose from.

Everything in their restaurant is filled with hip-hop references. It’s in the interior design and the menu, with burgers named Compton Burger, Dr Drecon, and Old Skool.

A hip-hop fan would no doubt enjoy the experience of being here, but their burgers are actually good and they don’t skimp on their servings!

They have two sizes for their burgers: the single and the double, but unless you’ve got a big appetite or are really hungry, we think the single is good for one person.

Outside of their food, they also have a beverage menu filled with coffee, shakes, and soft drinks. Unless you’re getting the usual canned drinks, we’ve heard that their drinks aren’t nearly as good as their food.

They open early at 7 AM and close at 3 PM, which makes them a great option for breakfast or lunch. But if you’re craving a burger for dinner, it’s best to look elsewhere.

As a consolation, they do have catering services if you’re planning on having their burgers served for a special event.

Pros

  • Has vegetarian and gluten-free options
  • Great quality food
  • Relaxed ambience
  • Friendly staff

Cons

  • Different menu for each location
  • Some unsatisfied customers

Short Order is one of the most popular burger restaurants in Western Australia, and it’s because of the consistent quality of every burger they serve.

All of their burgers are made from Blackwood Valley grass-fed beef that’s cooked medium rare, but you can request it to be cooked to a different level of doneness.

We like how they offer plant-based options for all of their burgers, which is great if you’re vegetarian or will be eating with a friend who is. They offer gluten-free options as an added bonus too.

Their Fremantle and Perth CBD locations have slightly different menus, but there’s no need to worry, as both locations serve the same kinds of burgers.

The main difference is that their Fremantle location has a larger drinks menu, including alcoholic beverages like beer, wine, and cocktails. Meanwhile, the Perth CBD location only serves soft drinks, iced tea, and milkshakes.

Outside of their burgers and beverages, customers also like their wings, which you can get for a half or a whole kilogramme! Even their wings have vegetarian alternatives—cauliflower bites!

There was a tiny group of customers who were underwhelmed with Short Order’s burgers and claimed it wasn’t worth all the hype. This, however, boils down to personal taste, and we can’t blame them for it.

If it’s any consolation, we do think they’re at least worth the try.

Pros

  • Has plant-based patties
  • Multiple patty options
  • Wide variety in menu
  • Great for families

Cons

  • A little expensive
  • Inconsistent quality of food
  • Small servings

As their name suggests, Ribs & Burgers specialises in, of course, ribs and burgers!

They serve ribs and burgers using different kinds of meat, giving you lots of options to choose from. You can choose from pork, beef, or lamb ribs, although they are most known for their pork baby back ribs.

It’s on their burger menu where you can really go to town. They’ve got what you’ll expect from a classic burger: a decent bun, beef, and a variety of toppings.

On top of that, they also have three different Wagyu burgers, meatless burgers, and chicken burgers. That still doesn’t include their wraps, salads, food bowls, and milkshakes.

This makes them a great option for families, especially if your kid is a picky eater, because you won’t run out of menu items to choose from.

However, they are a little bit more expensive compared to your typical burger restaurant, especially if you order the Wagyu burgers or any of the ribs.

Customers noted that while the food was good, they think the servings could’ve been a little bit bigger considering the price they paid for it.

There were also some reports of inconsistent quality. Some customers claimed their food came out cold or their ribs arrived dry, and this is, unfortunately, more common when the restaurant is busy.

Thus, if you’re set on dining here, we suggest going during the lull times to ensure the best quality of food.

Pros

  • Great quality of burgers
  • Quick service
  • Has gluten-free and vegetarian options
  • Consistent quality of burgers
  • Good prices

Cons

  • Limited opening hours
  • Busy during opening hours
  • Complaints about quality of chips

Meet & Bun is not a burger place for you to just meet and run. What impressed us most was that they’ve got the most consistent track record when it comes to quality of food.

This would explain how busy they get during their opening hours, which is just a short four hours! It does sacrifice the ambience, and we think it’s better for you to eat the burgers at home.

Despite being busy during their opening hours, customers were quick to note that they didn’t have to wait long for their orders to arrive, so you don’t have to worry about getting hungry while waiting.

They have a simple menu with just burgers, milkshakes, salads, and chicken, but we don’t think there will be a need to look at the other items since you’ll have 10 different burgers to choose from.

Their cheapest burger is the cheeseburger at $12.50, which is a well-loved favourite of many.

But if you do plan to dine here, we suggest that you try something new like Danny’s Southern Fried Chicken or The Dark Night burger which is served with charcoal buns!

They are more popular for their burgers and not so much for their other menu items. However, many customers were disappointed with the chips that came with the burgers, which they found too thin for their liking.

We aren’t too worried about that because the quality of their burgers will make it worth it.

5. Grill’d

Pros

  • Has vegetarian and vegan options
  • Good variety in menu
  • Has multiple healthy options
  • Good ambience
  • Has build-you-own-burger option

Cons

  • A little expensive
  • Minor complaints on service

Grill’d is the best option if you’re looking for a restaurant that offers healthier options and makes a concerted effort in sourcing only the best natural ingredients for their food.

When we say they have a good variety in their menu, by this we mean it’s easy to get overwhelmed by just how many items are on their menu—even just from the burgers alone!

First of all, they’ve got multiple patty options available, ranging from beef, chicken, lamb, Wagyu beef, and plant-based patties. If, for any reason, nothing catches your eye, you can opt to build your own burger instead!

We appreciate the healthy options they have on their menu other than their plant-based patties. They also have what they call Healthy Fried Chicken, which is approved to be cruelty-free with no additional preservatives.

Of course, all these options and mindful consideration of their ingredients come at a price. They lean towards the pricier side, and while their food is of good quality, you do have to take note of the prices on the menu.

Not only that, the quality of their service can be inconsistent too. We’ve heard some customers report that their food arrived cold, with some customers having to wait more than half an hour for their order to arrive.

Grill’d may not be an everyday place for you to get your burger, but we think their vegan and healthy options make it worth the try.
