8 Places in Perth Where You Can Adopt Pets

Adopting pets not only saves their lives but ours as well. Who doesn’t love receiving sweet kisses and head bumps from our furry little friends?

We get unconditional love from our pets and in return, we give them as many chances at life as we can. Here are some of the best places in Perth to adopt pets.

1. RSPCA

Website for WA: https://www.rspcawa.org.au/

Address: 108 Malaga Dr, Malaga

Phone: (08) 9209 9323

Opening Hours:

Weekdays: 9 am to 5 pm, closed on Wednesdays and all public holidays

Weekends: 10 am to 4 pm

This is our go-to when we think of adopting pets. Their online search system lets you view the rescued animals that have been microchipped and vaccinated.

Even better, each animal has been assessed for behavioural temperaments aside from health tests and desexing procedures.

Not all animals might be child-friendly. If you have kids at home, you might also want to have your pediatrician check them for allergies.

2. HAART – Homeless and Abused Animal Rescue Team

Website: https://haart.org.au/

Email: [email protected]

Phone: + 61 437 876 477

We love this animal rescue charity that allows cats and dogs to be rehomed and adopted to new and loving house companions. They have saved over 2,300 animals so far.

Their ultimate goal is also commendable since they look forward to getting all homeless animals into loving homes. We also want that for Perth too!

3. SAFE Perth

Website: http://www.safeperth.com.au/

Address: 1640 Neaves Rd, Bullsbrook WA 6084, Australia

Phone: +61 437 870 245

Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm

Saving Perth animals from euthanasia, this nonprofit organization actively seeks to rescue and care for homeless cats, dogs, and other creatures. Not only do they rehabilitate but they also rehome them as well.

They make sure that veterinarians check the animals while vaccinating, microchipping, and sterilising them in the process. Their new owners will be happy to know that their new pets are also treated for fleas and worms.

Some dogs will need a lot of physical activities. Make sure to check with your cardiologist if your heart health can take the exercises.

4. PetRescue

5. WA Pet Project

Phone: +63 435 817 067

This nonprofit organisation is fully operated by its volunteers dedicated to bringing pet adoption into the mainstream consciousness. They house their animals in foster homes temporarily while looking for forever homes.

There are several considerations though that you might need to factor in when adopting. Some pet owners can develop skin allergies and you might benefit if you visit a dermatologist to check for allergies.

6. The Cat Haven

Website: https://www.cathaven.com.au/

Address: 23 Lemnos St, Shenton Park WA 6008, Australia

Phone: +61 8 9442 3600

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm; Saturday, 8 am to 3:30 pm; Sunday, 9 am to 5 pm

Rescuing cats and kittens since 1961, this shelter makes sure that all their feline friends are vaccinated, microchipped, and sterilised. All you need to do is just check which cat or kitten chooses you as its new companion.

You’ll be glad to know that all cats and kittens have been treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. They even have a cat cafe for you to hang out if you’re still undecided.

While at the cafe, drink coffee in moderation to keep your teeth from yellowing. In case you need your pearly whites back, you can also visit the nearest dentist in Perth.

7. Dogs’ Refuge Home

Dogs' Refuge Home

Website: https://www.dogshome.org.au/

Address: 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park WA 6008, Australia

Phone: +61 8 9381 8166

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm

Just beside the Cat Haven, this nonprofit rescue shelter is bent on helping canines find their forever homes. Every year, hundreds of unwanted, neglected, and even abused dogs come in for rescuing and rehoming.

Pop in here to look for your paw-fect companion since all dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and sterilised for their best interests. The rescue also makes sure that dogs are well-behaved with a clean bill of health before they are released.

8. Desperate For Love Dog Pound

Website: http://www.dfldogrescue.com.au/

Email: [email protected]

Phone: +63 4 9128 2610

In case one dog from Dog’s Refuge Home isn’t enough, you can visit this rescue centre for more. Adorable dogs and puppies will be happy to see you, wagging their tails in delight.

View the dogs first online before you visit, otherwise, you’ll end up falling in love with all of them. If you’re not yet sure, you can offer to foster them in the meantime to see if they’ll love you as much as you love them.

If you’re still on the fence about adopting, you might want to consult with a psychologist to determine if pets can be beneficial to your mental well-being.
