Call us cliche, but wolfing down oysters while basking under the Australian sun is our ritual at Bertie, a chic wine bar with an outdoor spot that mixes lush foliage with up-to-date fixtures.

Prosecco, sauvignon blanc, and gin overflow here no matter the hour, typically accompanied by pates, steak tartare, and bite-sized seafood. Their desserts hit the spot, too, especially our standard deal sweetener, the caramel mousse with plums.

On our recent trip, though, we went hard on their tap beers and pork belly—a high-caloric affair that resulted in extra belly rolls, light hangovers, and most importantly, satisfied palates.

Shui Subiaco took the saying “spice is the variety of life” and ran with it. From their steamed prawns to the roast pork belly, every bite packs a punch of bold spices and chilies that masterfully blend flavor and heat.

What’s not to love about Manuka Woodfire Kitchen? Its tree-shaded garden setting begs for a lazy afternoon, while the grub pops with the oomph of woodfire cooking.

We started with their flatbread and wood-roasted olives to get a general taste. The smoky, buttery flavor profile was a hit, so we immediately ordered the shared plates.

Our team also indulged in wood-roasted potatoes with mustard sour cream and smoked butter, a hearty feast ideal for groups of 3 to 4. The beef carpaccio with nduja emulsion and pickled daikon might also be one of the best beef dishes in Perth.

Tip: Bring your pupper. Manuka’s outdoor space is dog-friendly, as long as your fur baby is well-behaved.

Like a well-kept secret, Angel Falls Grill’s eco-chic outdoor area is hidden in the quaint Shafto Lane. Lucky for us, the aroma of their smoked Venezuelan-style steaks and chorizo is hard to miss.

We began the food fiesta by savoring their empanadas. The beans and beef variant was the standout. Then, we finished plates of croquetas de maíz, cracking bites of sweet corn, bacon, and cheddar.

The main event came in the form of the Araguaney sharing board. It had everything a foodie would die for, from hickory smoked steak strips and crispy pork belly to grilled chicken tenders and black beans—all complemented by their signature sauces.

The minimalist and canopy-covered waterside terrace at The Partisan boasts views that could charm even the sirens, but it’s the innovative Mediterranean fare that kept us anchored.

Following the waitstaff’s suggestion, we kicked things off with the ricotta and pumpkin gnocchi, which is a no-brainer in hindsight. Its incorporation of fig jam, candied pecans, whipped ricotta cheese, brown butter, and fresh herbs is pure culinary magic.

For a hearty main, we went hard on their signature 4-hour slow-braised beef cheeks. Bathed in a rich red wine jus and served with vanilla carrot puree, it’s a meal all carnivores must taste.
